I livelli eccessivi di acido urico nell'organismo costituiscono il terzo fattore di rischio d'infarto. Ecco perché è importante controllarne i livelli, e la dieta è la principale alleata per questo scopo.
Secondo una ricerca pubblicata dalla rivista Arthritis & Rheumatism, gli uomini che soffrono di gotta presentano un rischio maggiore di avere un infarto al miocardio. Per arrivare a questa conclusione, i ricercatori hanno valutato per sei anni circa 13.000 uomini con una media di 46 anni e rischio coronario.
Secondo l'Associazione Medica Americana, la concentrazione normale di acido urico dev'essere dai 3,6 agli 8,3 mg/dl. Per gli uomini adulti tra i 4 e gli 8,5 mg/dl, nelle donne adulte dai 2,5 ai 7,5 mg/dl e nei bambini piccoli si accettano valori dai 2,5 ai 5 mg/dl.
La dieta è fondamentale, come sempre, per evitare in gran misura i rischi di subire una malattia grave, come in questo caso. Includere alimenti proteici che apportano aminoacidi essenziali è fondamentale per mantenere un buono stato di salute, anche se in persone con propensione ad avere iperuricemia - l'aumento dei livelli di acido urico nel sangue - e/o gotta, è raccomandabile che scelgano quelli con un minore contenuto di acido urico e purina, che siano poveri di grassi, come la carne di coniglio, ad esempio.
La carne di coniglio è un alimento dai elevato valore nutritivo, raccomandato per il suo nullo contenuto di acido urico (0mg/100 g) e il suo limitatissimo contenuto di purine (32 mg/100g), fattori che lo rendono perfetto per essere incluso nelle diete indicate per prevenire e trattare l'iperuricemia e la gotta. La falsa credenza sul limitare la carne di coniglio nell'alimentazione di chi ha elevati livelli di acido urico e/o sono malati di gotta, può derivare dalla confusione con la selvaggina.
